Project Title

Using digitally-enhanced reality to reduce sedentary behaviour at home in an elderly population

Supervision Team

Jane Walsh, UoG / Owen Conlan, TCD

Description

It is well known that regular physical activity (PA) limits the development and progression of chronic diseases and disabling conditions. However, time spent in sedentary behaviour (SB) has increased substantially over the last three decades and increases with age. The project will explore health behaviour change from a behavioural science perspective using the ‘person-based approach’ and will develop appropriate personalised behaviour change techniques (BCTs) integrated into VR systems to effectively reduce sedentary behaviour in older adults at home.
